If copy-pasting text from Word, please notice the difference between typing the characters ’ (right single quotation mark) and ' (single quotation mark or apostrophe) and curly quote on a standard QWERTY keyboard.
1. Right Single Quotation Mark ’: This character is used mainly for quotations within quotations or as an apostrophe in some formal writing.
To type the Right Single Quotation Mark ’:
- On most standard keyboards, it's usually located on the same key as the tilde (~) character, which is to the left of the Enter/Return key on the upper row of keys.
- To type it, simply press the key that has the right single quotation mark ’ symbol on it.
2. Single Quotation Mark ' (Apostrophe): This character is used as an apostrophe in contractions and possessives in English writing.
To type the Single Quotation Mark ' (Apostrophe):
- On a standard QWERTY keyboard, you can typically find the apostrophe key near the Enter/Return key. It may share the key with the double quotation mark (") and is often located to the right of the semicolon (;) key.
